Each day as I drive from work to pick up the kids, I think about how much I miss them and how much I'm looking forward to seeing them. I'm always thrilled when I see my little boy's face in Miss Amanda's Toddler 1 room. It seems my little man is quite happy to see me too. As soon as he sees me, if he is holding anything in his hands -- a baby doll, a crayon, buckets of sand -- he drops everything, shows me the biggest grin and walks to me as fast as his little legs can go! It cracks me (and Max's teachers) up to see how quickly he'll toss even the most coveted toy on the ground.
If everyone on earth received that kind of welcome, the world would be a far happier place!

Major milestone
Holly can now tie her own shoes! My mom came into town this weekend, showed her a few times, and she's really getting the hang of it. She's working on getting the bow tight enough so she doesn't have to re-tie it so often. I'm so proud of her! We went to Target to pick up her first sneakers with laces to celebrate her accomplishment.

I've finally jumped on the bandwagon
Since almost everyone I know has a blog, I figured I should see what all the fuss is about. I haven't blogged before since so many blogs I read are clever, touching or downright hilarious, and the pressure to be equally clever, touching or downright hilarious seemed too great. But the kiddos do and say some really funny stuff these days, and I wanted a place to record their funnies. And, who knows, I may post some of my random musings about life in general.
Some of the latest kiddo funnies:
Holly picked up some plastic vampire teeth at Max's dentist appointment and took them with her to her pediatrician checkup. When she heard she needed a second chicken pox shot, she decided she would wear her vampire teeth to scare the nurse away. When the nurse walked in, Holly gave it her best shot, growling, and making scary hand motions, but her plan failed and she got the shot anyway. She really thought her ruse would work!
Holly told me about a strange cooincidence at her school: "All the teachers have "Miss" in their names: Miss Amanda, Miss Brenda, Miss Kim ..."
Max has started carrying around a kids calculator and using it as a phone. When he first picked it up, I thought maybe had had a future in math/engineering like James, but instead he just chats away on a cell phone like his mama.
